He wanted the city to be similar to the ones in Hollywood, on a large scale and well in facilities. Then, over 2000 acres of land were acquired for the purpose and Nitish Roy, a famous art director, was assigned the task of designing the whole complex. The film city was set up in 1996 and was opened to the public after that. Approximately more than 2500 films have been shot in the film city. And some of the blockbusters movies shot here like Chennai Express, Krrish, Baahubali, and Dirty Picture.

The film city was opened for the people with the collaboration of Indian Cinema through Usha Kiran movies in 1996. And Ramoji Film City has amazing infrastructures and more than 500 different types of sets locations within the film city. It also has an infrastructure including mock-ups, set construction, costumes, custom-designed locations, shooting stages, locations, cameras, sound mixing, equipment, audio post productions, and film processing.
