Ananthagiri Hills is a forest area in the Rangareddy District in Telangana. Ananthagiri Hills are about 90 kilometers from Hyderabad and 6 kilometers from Vikarabad and are the starting point of the Musi River.
The Ananthagiri Hills is the place where Osmansagar and Himayathsagar originate. Osman Sagar and Himayathsagar are about 100 km from Hyderabad and about 10 km from Vikarabad. Many tourists from the twin cities come to the hills on Sundays and holidays to enjoy the scenic beauty of the place.

One trek begins from the Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple and another begins about 0.5 kilometers from the temple, towards Kerelli. Anantha Padmanabha swamy Temple is undoubtedly one of the prime attractions in Ananthagiri hills. The temple had been built by Nizam Nawabs around 400 years ago when Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy came in the Nawab dream and asked to build a temple for him. So, make sure you take the blessings of Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy when you visit the Ananthagiri hills.
Nagasamudram lake or Kotipally reservoir is located at a distance of 20km from Ananthagiri hills. Nagasamudram Lake is a clear water body and it offers picturesque views in Monsoon because it attracts many species of birds. The best time to visit Anantagiri Hills is during the monsoon season.
How to Reach Ananthagiri Hills
One can reach Ananthagiri hills easily as it is well connected with both rail and road transport. There are two ways to reach Ananthagiri hills from Hyderabad via Vikarabad.
- One route from Hyderabad is by taking – APPA Junction (outer ring road) – Chilkur – Moinabad -Chevella – Manneguda – Vikarabad (approx 60km from APPA junction).
- And the other route from Hyderabad is by taking JNTU(KPHB) – BHEL – Patancheru – Rudraram – Sadasivpet(turn left) – Mominpet – Kothagadi – Vikarabad (approx 90km). After reaching Vikarabad, proceed towards Ananthagiri road.
