Diabetes is one of the most common diseases in India and 70% of the population is suffering from this, according to the data. Not just this, this disease is killing more than 1.6 million people every year globally. So, diabetes is a metabolic disorder in which the body cannot regulate blood sugar levels which causes an excessive amount of glucose in the blood. As a result, it causes high blood pressure and heart disease.

  1. Broccoli- this is one of the green vegetables which balances blood sugar levels. Broccoli is highly rich in vitamin K and also in folate. It also contains vitamin C and potassium which mainly helps in maintaining blood sugar levels. Some studies show that eating broccoli sprouts reduces glucose by 10% and the phytonutrients present in broccoli help in reducing the risk of developing cancer and heart disease.

  4. Ladyfinger- This is one of my favorite vegetables, it is a small tuberous root vegetable originating from Asia. Ladyfinger is highly rich in dietary fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. It also contains the compound Myricetin which can absorb glucose. As Vitamin C is present in a ladyfinger, that can boost the metabolism rate. This superfood is also a heart-healthy diabetic diet as it controls the bad cholesterol which causes heart disease.

  5. Beans- Green beans are the healthiest food for a diabetic patient. Consuming beans in your diet can slow down the release of sugar into the bloodstream. They are a good source of soluble fiber and have a low glycaemic index. You know, green beans can be eaten without thinking a second thought that it will increase your blood sugar level. You do not need to worry while consuming beans.
