Tourist Attractions of Osman Sagar Lake, Rangareddy

Osman Sagar Lake is also called Gandipet which is an excellent picnic spot and situated on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Osman Sagar is a beautiful lake located 20 km west of Hyderabad. It is a man-made reservoir which is created by constructing a dam across the Isa, a tributary of the Musi River.

The lake is surrounded by lush green gardens, which provide an ideal gateway for the outing. The lake is the house of heritage buildings, Sagar Mahal, which was built as a resort by the Nizams and later transformed into a lake resort by the Hyderabad tourism department. No matter, what the weather is, it is summer or winter, the place is always crowded with water stream visitors, for boating always.

Mir Osman Ali Khan created this lake as part of a dam project for the river Musi in the year 1920. The idea was to supply drinking water to Hyderabad city. The lake is spread over an area of approximately 46 sq. km and is the major drinking water source for the twin cities.

Gandipet is an amazing picnic spot for the people of Hyderabad and has been developed as a public recreation spot with excellent gardens and a swimming pool. Visitors from across the country visit Gandipet Lake all over the year from all corners of the twin cities. The Tourists who are visiting Gandipet feel pleasant to see a vast stretch of water shining in golden under the morning sun. The sprawling gardens with colorful flora, vegetation, and trees towards the dam’s lower sides make the place truly outstanding and no one can take their eyes off from the beautiful view. The lake also offers boating facilities to visitors who are looking for a ride.

another tourist attraction is a fortified citadel and an early capital city of the Qutub Shahi Dynasty. Because of the vicinity of diamond mines, Golconda flourished as a trade center of large diamonds, known as the Golconda diamonds. This is 11.48km far from the lake so can be explored on the same day.

3. Durgam Cheruvu lake

This is a freshwater lake located in the Rangareddy district. The lake is also known as Secret Lake because it is hidden between the area of Jubilee Hills and Madhapur.

4. Kasu Brahmanandha Reddy National Park

this is another major tourist attraction which is a vast spread of lush greenery and rich in fauna located in the Jubilee Hills.  It is named after former Chief Minister Kasu Brahmananda Reddy, this park is very close to nature.
