This movie is about the coordination of a police officer with a prisoner to punish a serial child killer. This is one amazing movie in which Ashutosh Rana won the Filmfare award for best villain.
2. Tamanna – 1997
Tamanna – 1997 – This one is based on the truth about the social issue where one can witness the positive side of a third gender who is often considered as a beggar in our society. The movie shows the humanity and love between Eunuch and an abandoned girl.
3. Mr. and Mrs. Iyer – 2002
Mr. and Mrs. Iyer – 2002- Film starring Rahul Bose and Konkona sen who met on a bus journey when the communal rights were going around in the country. The movie won the Nargis Dutt award for the best feature film.

Ship of Theseus – 2012 – This movie is a mix of many questions and answers about justice, identity, beauty, and death. The movie title stands a paradox, whether an object stays the same even after a complete restoration of all the components. This movie even bragged a national film award.

The Lunchbox – 2013 – This is probably one of the most underrated movies ever made. Starring Irfan Khan and Nimrat Kaur as lead roles romanticize each other via an unlikely event of exchanging the lunch box followed by a mystical relationship developing between both. Though this movie made a good hit at the box office but wasn’t selected as an Oscar entry. Nonetheless, this is an amazing movie one should not miss and one will surely enjoy the entire movie.

Liar’s dice – 2013 – This movie shows the real-time scenarios of migrant workers and how they are being misused and misbehaved in society. Geetanjali Thapa and Nawazuddin Siddiqui were seen in the lead roles. This movie’s cinematography is something that will allure you for sure and for the same reason, the movie won the national film award for best Cinematography by Rajeev Ravi along with another national award for best actress.
7. Firaaq – 2008
Firaaq – 2008 – There are not many films that were cinematized over the victims of some incident and this falls in that category. The movie shows the lives of many individuals who were the victims of the Gujarat riots in 2002 and their aftereffects. The movie is based on thousands of true stories from that incident. This won many national and international awards for the same.
8. The Blue umbrella – 2005
The Blue umbrella – 2005 – this movie is a story of a young girl who finds a blue Japanese umbrella (which must be left by travelers) and how that one umbrella brings lots of trouble from the villagers. It is based on the Ruskin bond’s level.
9. Rocket Singh – Salesman of the year – 2009
Rocket Singh – Salesman of the year – 2009 – Movie starring Ranveer kapoor in a lead role that portrays a frustrated salesman that lacks the work-life balance and the movie did really well in justifying the theme. Though this movie is a really good one but not got much popularity.
10. Shor in the city – 2010
Shor in the city – 2010 – this movie is again a mix of many genres such as crime, thriller, comedy, and drama with a solid eye-striking theme of the struggle and difficulties of life in Mumbai city. This film was very much accepted and appreciated by the reviewers but sadly not much by the audience.
