India, the country is the union of 28 states and 9 Union territories. So that there are one Chief Minister of each state and 3 union territories (Delhi, JK, and Puducherry). Therefore, our country has a total of 31 Chief Ministers as of now. The Prime Minister is the head of the central government and runs the country same as the Chief Minister is the head of the state and runs the state.

List of longest serving Indian Chief Ministers of All Time
1. Pawan Kumar Chamling

Pawan Kumar Chamling- after the Independence, the only chief minister of the country who served the longest to the date. Pawan Kumar Chamling, the founder and president of the Sikkim Democratic Front, served the state for 24.5 years or 24 years and 165 days from 1994 to 2019, and again he was elected the fifth chief minister of the state, in 2019.
2. Jyoti Basu

Jyoti Basu- the second longest serving chief minister of west Bengal from 1977 to 2000. He was one of the co-founders of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and a member of the party Politburo back then. After an alliance group of communist and socialist parties came to power in 1977, Basu became the sixth chief minister of West Bengal and served over 23 years and 137 days to the year 2000.
3. Gegong Apang

Gegong Apang- the third longest serving chief minister of the country who served over the period of 22 years 250 days, meanwhile from 18 January 1980 to 19 January 1999 and then from August 2003 to April 2007. Apang was chosen as Chief Minister for the first time on 18 January 1980, after getting elected to the assembly for the second time. He served the citizens of the state until 1999, then he resigned.
4. Naveen Patnaik

Naveen Patnaik- is an Indian politician who was born on 16 October 1946, he is the longest-serving chief minister of the state of Odisha to date and serving the state for over two decades. He became the 14th chief minister of the state in 2000 and has won five consecutive terms. Naveen Patnaik, served the state for over 22 years 166 days and he is a writer as well and has written three books.

5. Lal Thanhawla

Lal Thanhawla- the previous chief minister of Mizoram, he served the state over the period of 21 years 55 days, from the years 5 May 1984 to 20 August 1986, 24 January 1989 to 7 December 1993, then 8 December 1993 to 3 December 1998, then 11 December 2008 to 12 December 2018. He is counted on the list of longest-serving chief ministers of India. You know he passed his matriculation in 1958 and intermediate in 1961, graduating in 1964.
6. Virbhadra Singh

Virbhadra Singh- Singh, is on the top list of the longest serving chief ministers of India, Singh holds the distinction of being the longest serving Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, served the state from 1983 to 1990, then 1993 to 1998, from 2003 to 2007 and then from 2012 to 2017. He was born on 24 June 1934. Sigh served the state over the period of 21 years and 11 days.
7. Manik Sarkar

Manik Sarkar- the longest serving chief minister of the state of Tripura. He served the state from 1998 till the year 2018 means 19 years, 363 days. He was sworn in as the leader of the Tripura coalition government in 2008 and served for four successive terms. As for now, he serves as Leader of Opposition in the Tripura Legislative Assembly.
8. M. Karunanidhi

M. Karunanidhi- one of the longest serving chief ministers of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. He was an Indian writer and did a contribution to Tamil Literature. He served the state over the period of 18 years 360 days, from 10 February 1969 to 31 January 1976, and 27 January 1989 to 30 January 1991, then 13 May 1996 to 13 May 2001, then finally 13 May 2006 to 15 May 2011.
9. Parkash Singh Badal

Parkash Singh Badal- the CM of the state of Punjab, was one of the longest-serving chief ministers who served over the period of 18 years and 150 days. 27 March 1970 – 14 June 1971, then 20 June 1977 to 17 February 1980, 12 February 1997 to 26 February 2002, 1 March 2007 to 16 March 2017. Well, he was born in 1927, and he exercises a strong influence on the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. The Government of India awarded him the second highest civilian award Padma Vibhushan, in the year 2015.
10. Yashwant Singh Parmar
Yashwant Singh Parmar- who was born on 1906 and was the first chief minister of the Indian State Himachal Pradesh. He did his doctorate from Lucknow University in 1944.

He served the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh over the period of 18 years and 30 days, from 8 March 1952 to 31 October 1956 and then 1 July 1963 to 28 January 1977. He died on 2 May 1981. In the honor of the chief minister, Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, established in 1985 in Solan is named after CM Parmar. Moreover, a statue of Parmar was established in Shimla Mall for reminding his contributions to Himachal Pradesh.
