The well-renowned university Osmania University, vice chancellor Prof D Ravinder said during the 82nd convocation that, Osmania University will grant Honoris Causa doctorate to Chief of India (CJI) NV Ramana.
During addressing a press conference the Osmania University Vice Chancellor said the Chief of India (CJI) would be conferred with LLD and he would be the 5th judge to be granted the honorary doctorate. Previously total of 47 honorary doctorates, 27 in law, 12 in literature, and 6 in science was awarded by the university.
He further said, amongst earlier recipients of doctorate, 18 were eminent personalities, 8 were members of royal families, 3 were Presidents, 4 each were national leaders and judges, 6 eminent foreign personalities, and 2 each were Prime Ministers and poets.
The candidates who passed the exam between October 2021 to July 2022, will be able to receive their Ph.D. degree and gold medals in the convocation. In the convocation, more women bagged gold medals than men. A total of 55 gold medals will be presented to 31 candidates of which 27 of women and 4 men. Similarly, a total of 361 scholars were declared eligible for the award of Ph.D. degrees. However, around 260 candidates will receive their doctoral degrees of which 96 are men and 143 are women in the convocation.
The Registered PhD degree holders and gold medal awardees must obtain an entry pass by having receipt of registration, during office hours from the office of the Controller of Exams. Prof. Ravinder said that entry passes and invitations would be mandatory to attend the convocation ceremony.
