Namita Thapar is an Indian businesswoman and Indian entrepreneur and the executive director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals company which is a multinational pharmaceutical company based in Maharashtra. Also, she is one of the investors in the reality show Shark Tank India Season 1 in 2021.
Educational Qualification-
Namita was born on 21st March 1977 in Pune, Maharashtra, and completed her both primary and secondary education itself in Pune. She was good in extracurricular activities and in academics both, but she gave up all the extras and entirely focus on her studies. She completed her graduation in B.com from Savitribai Phule Pune University. And then she studied Chartered Accountants (CA) at The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. then, she went to the US for further studies MBA post-graduation from Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, North Carolina. After completing her MBA, she began working in the US with a position as Business Financial Lead in the Financial Department Planning of Glasgow and Guidant Corporation in the US.
Family-
Her father, Mr. Satish Mehta is a successful Indian businessman and the founder of Emcure Pharmaceuticals company. Her mother Mrs, Bhavana Mehta is an Indian housewife. She also has one younger brother namely, Samit Mehta, who currently is the president of R & D of the company.
Personal life-
Namita got married to Vivek Thapar, who is also an Indian businessman. The couple has two kids namely, Jai and Vir Thapar. The interesting fact, she names her kids after the movie characters Jay and Vir in her favorite movie Sholay.
Professional career-
After completing her studies, he started working in the US at GlaxoSmithKline, then she got placed in Guidant Corporation, a medical device company in the USA as the business finance lead and served almost 6 years. Then she moved to India and joined her father’s business as Chief finance officer. She is a person on the Executive Board of Emcure Pharmaceuticals Limited and recently heads Emcure’s India business, managing more than 4000 medical representatives across 15 main therapeutic areas throughout the country. She took her father’s business into a new light and expanded globally.
Apart from this, Namita is also a young entrepreneur, she founded an educational company in 2017 named, Incredible Ventures Ltd. The main aim of this company is to promote youth entrepreneurship skills in children of age 11-18 years old. It has several branches in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, and Ahmedabad.
Furthermore, she also indulges in various types of government projects and initiatives like the Women Entrepreneurship Platform and Digital Health Taskforce by NITI Ayog and Champions of change. The programs were launched by Prime Minister Modi as a part of the G2B partnership. She also released her book the Dolphin and the Shark which has the success stories of entrepreneurs.

She appeared in the list of Economic Times Women Ahead List 2017, won the economic times under 40 awards in 2017, and also won the World Women’s Leadership Congress Super Achiever Award. Barclays Hurun Next Gen Leader Recognition. Moreover, she is one of the investors in the famous American-based reality show Shark Tank Season 1.
