Ladyfinger, also known as okra or bhindi, is a highly nutritious vegetable found in India.  It is usually grown in tropical to temperate climate zones in India. Lady Finger is a good source of carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, enzymes, calcium, potassium, and many other nutrients.

Benefits of Ladyfinger

  1. Keeps diabetes in control

Ladyfinger is helpful in controlling type 2 diabetes by lowering the blood sugar level. Ladyfinger Improves insulin sensitivity by blocking the carbohydrate-breaking enzyme. However, it is better to consult a doctoror healthcare practitioner before you intake Ladyfinger as a medicine to control diabetes.

Ladyfinger is a good source of probiotics (a good source of bacteria) to maintain good health. Studies have shown that Ladyfinger promotes good bacterial growth in the intestine thereby improving gut health. Moreover, Ladyfinger promotes the process of vitamin B complex helping you to maintain good health.

Moreover, fiber and vitamin B9 (folic acid/folate) may have some beneficial effects on the development of the nervous system of the fetus. But it is recommended to consult your doctor before using any herb or vegetable for its benefits.

Side effects of ladyfinger

Studies have not revealed any side effects of consuming ladyfinger on health. However, some people might have allergic reactions to ladyfinger.

There are no studies or reports to show the major side effects of ladyfinger. But, if you notice any side effects, you must stop eating it and consult a doctor if it gets problematic.

Do not use ladyfinger to treat any disease condition without consulting with your doctor. It would be better in avoiding any possible side effects.
