JNTU-H offers exit option for engineering students after 2nd year
Hyderabad: The Jawaharlal Nehru Technical University Hyderabad allows exit options for engineering students after the second year. With starting the new academic year of 2022-2023 the university’s students can take an exit after successfully completing the second year of the course. Those students will be given an undergraduate diploma provided they secured credits as stipulated by the university.

With this diploma or the undergraduate diploma, students can either take a job or can do entrepreneurship or start up to pursue their dream.
If they want to start the program from where they end, they can re-join the program in the third year of engineering using the UG diploma after one year. Currently everywhere the program is of four years, students have to complete their four-year degree program to get the degree and job.
AICTE, The All India Council for Technical Education recently issued guidelines on the multiple entries and exit options in academic programs as per which undergraduate technical students are allowed to take an exit after the first year of the course with the undergraduate diploma as the exiting qualification.
Similarly, the undergraduate diploma, bachelor of vocational education, and BE/B. Tech exiting qualifications will be given if they opt out of the course after the second or third year or after completing the final year UG degree respectively.
By following these rules and regulations the JNTU Hyderabad has decided to implement an exit option from the second year and re-entry in the third year.
The university last year introduced an initiative that enabled students to take a break after the third year of the engineering program for a maximum of two semesters to initiate start-up ventures or product development etc.
This new system will be applied only to those students who have the necessary credits and clear all their subjects till the completion of the second year and can re-join the program after the one-year gap.
