Telangana is the newest formed state in India having its capital as Hyderabad. Telangana is home to famous personalities who not only achieved significant success in their life but also created an impact on the present generation. P.V Narasimha Rao
Pamulaparti Venkata Narasimha Rao, an Indian politician, and lawyer was born on 28 June 1921. Apart from his political background, P.V Narasimha Rao is a proficient linguist and can speak 17 languages. PV Narasimha Rao had a long span of Political career across various roles.
- PV Narsimha Rao was the tenth Prime Minister of India and he was in the service from 21st June 1991 to 16th May 1996.
- He was the Minister of Defense from 6 March 1993 to 16th March 1996, and from 31st December 1984 to 25th September 1985.
- He was the external affairs minister from 31st March 1992 to 18 January 1993, 25th June 1988 to 2nd December 1989, and 14 January 1980 to 19th July 1984.
- He was the Minister of Home Affairs from 12 March 1986 to 12th May 1986 and 19th July 1984 to 31st December 1984.
- He was the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh from 30th September 1971 to 10th January 1973.
Pusarla Venkata Sindhu Alias PV Sindhu is a highly accomplished badminton player who has won several medals for India at International events.
She gained popularity all over India after winning the silver medal in the Rio Olympics 2016. PV Sindhu was ranked the world’s number 2 badminton player in April 2017 and she had won a gold in the 2019 world championship. PV Sindhu is one of the most famous badminton players in the country.
Kaloji Narayana Rao
Kaloji Narayana Rao was born on 9th September 1914 and is a political activist, poet, and freedom fighter.
Kaloji Narayana Rao is commonly known as Kaloji, Kalanna, and Praja Kavi. He had composed many famous poems such as Kaloji Kathalu in the year 1943, Pavitra Vyayam in 1946, and Anna Kathalu in the year 1941.
Kaloji Narayana Rao was the recipient of the Padma Bhushan in the year 1992 by the Indian government. Kaloji died on 13th November 2002 and his birthday is celebrated as Telangana language day.
Rani Rudrama Devi
Rani Rudrama Devi was one of the few female monarchs of India and she ruled the Kakatiya dynasty from 1263 to 1295.
Rani Rudramadevi started ruling her dynasty from the age of 14 as a co-regent to her father Ganapatideva and got the name Rudradeva Maharaja.
Many people of that dynasty had turned against her as they did not want a woman to rule them. Rani Rudrama Devi married Virbhadra of the Chalukya Dynasty, a political Alliance made by her father.
Chityala Ailamma was born in 1919 in Warangal Telangana. She was popularly known for her Revolutionary leadership and freedom struggle in Telangana. Chityala Ailamma revolted against the feudal Lord Zamindar Ramachandra Reddy known as Visnoor Deshmukh.
She had taken up this Revolt to protect her 4 acres of land and later joined Andhra Mahasabha and the Communist Party. Chityala Ailamma passed away in 1985.
Dasarathi Krishnamacharyulu was born on 22nd July 1925. Dasarathi was a poet, writer, thinker, and freedom fighter.
He took part in the freedom fight against the autocratic rule of the Nizam of Hyderabad. Dasarathi’s Revolutionary poems were influenced by the communist ideology of Karl Marx.
Some of his famous poems are Matrubhoomi, Desabhakti, Prajaporatam, Dharmachakram, Vasanthakumari, Silpi, etc.
Dasarathi even went to jail for participating in Satyagraha. The jail cell in his state was renamed the ‘Dasarathi cell’. He was awarded the state Academy Award in the year 1967 by the Andhra Pradesh government.
