Facebook starts testing NFTs with select creators
Technology: Facebook has started testing a new digital collectables tab with select creators in the United States. The creators would be able to display their NFTs (non-fungible tokens) on their timelines. They displayed the screenshots of the digital collectables, by clicking on the NFTs posts it will show the digital collectables like the name of the collection and its creator.
The Meta company is exploring plans is allow users to create, showcase, and sell NFTs on Facebook and Instagram itself. Facebook will integrate with Polygon, Solana, Ethereum, and Flow blockchain networks to facilitate this. Users will have to add their crypto wallets such as Meta masks and prove their NFT ownership before showcasing it on the platform of Facebook and Instagram said by the Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
According to CEO Mark, a bunch of technical things, need to get worked out before that will be seamless to happen. Additionally, they are working on NFTs to bring it on Instagram as well.
Earlier, Meta founder announced that a similar function is supposed to bring on Facebook soon, along with augmented reality NFTs on Instagram stories, so that so can place digital art into physical spaces.
Instagram Head Adam Mosseri states that the team still was exploring the NFTs and did not have any other details but he further said that, the users would be able to use NFTs in their stories, feeds, and messages. Before that, Zuckerberg said earlier in the month of October, that how metaverse will need to support the ownership of digital goods or NFTs.
