The film Federation of India FFI has announced the Chello show is India’s official entry for the Best International feature film category at the Academy Awards (Oscars) 2023. The film titled ‘Last Film Show’ in English is a Gujarati coming-age drama film and has its release on October 14th.

The film directed by Pan Nalin is based on the director’s life of falling in love with cinema at a young age. The storyline of the film is set in a remote rural village of Saurashtra where a 9-year-old boy named Samay (who plays the role of Bhavin Rabari) falls in love with cinema and spent an entire summer watching movies from the production of a rundown movie theatre. All he wants is to watch films and to do so, he finds various ways to fulfill his wish. During the process, he gets in trouble with the local police and is branded as a thief. No matter what, he finds his way to watching movies and also expresses his deep desire to study more about them.
The film features actors namely Bhavin Rabari, Bhavesh Shrimali, Richa Meena, Dipen Raval, and Paresh Mehta. The film has already won multiple awards including the Golden Spike at the 66th Valladolid film festival in Spain.
