Doctors absence at Nalgonda GGH irks harish Rao
Telangana: This Tuesday, the Health Minister expressed his displeasure over the unauthorized absence of the doctors and the lapse in extending Healthcare services to patients in the Government General Hospital (GGH) off Nalgonda.
The Telangana State health minister Harish Rao went on a surprise visit to GGH and examined the medical college building that is present there. He had held a meeting with the head of the departments of the medical college to discuss the college issues. The minister has also examined the attendance register of the doctors to check whether they are regularly attending or not.
After checking the attendance register, the minister has come to know that some of the doctors were on unauthorized leave and some of the doctors left the hospital at 2 p.m. itself. While the working hours of the doctors are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The minister has expressed deep displeasure over the irregular functioning of the hospital.
He has asked the officials to start OP services in the evening time to serve patients. He mentioned the need to ensure better healthcare services to people in government hospitals in the coming years.
The Telangana state government has developed infrastructure in the government hospitals to extend quality healthcare services to the people and he explained the importance of the doctors being present for proper functioning.
20 doctors are working in various departments like general medicine, gynecology, and Orthopedic departments in the hospital. But he has noticed that only 500 deliveries are performed in the hospital per month and there was no record of Knee replacement and hip joint replacement surgeries in the Orthopedic department. If such facilities are not provided in the government hospital, the poor people would be forced to go to private hospitals and that is what the government is trying to change.
