History of Sri Ranganayaka Swamy Temple
According to our ancient history, Sri Krishnadevaraya, the Vijayanagar ruler, went to Srirangam. He was enthralled by the Sri Ranganayakaswamy Temple at that place. Then, he desired to construct a Ranganayakaswamy temple in his kingdom too. Later, Ranganayaka (Lord Vishnu) appeared in Sri Krishnadevaraya’s dream. Lord Vishnu told the king that his idol is lying in the kingdom itself and an eagle will direct him to that place.
On the next day, Krishnadevaraya followed the eagle’s path and found the Lord’s idol present in between the Kothakota and Kanvayapally mountains. With the idol, the king constructed the SriRanganayakaswamyTemple near RatnaPushkariniLake.
The temple can be considered a classic example of Vijayanagar architecture. Rajas of Wanaparthi Samsthanam have constructed the temple on the bund of Ratna Pushpakarini lake.

Devotees from all over South India visit the destination from various states like Karnataka (Gulbarga, Raichur, and Sindanur, which are border places), Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra. Larger volumes of devotees flood to worship Lord Vishnu in the temple during Navaratrulu.
