Well, the world knows that India is blessed with the full of culture and traditions, the country is rich in history and also there are some eternal structures to tell our Indian history. One such ancient structure that also reveals our history is hidden in the Bhadrakali temple situated in Warangal. Bhadrakali temple was built in 625 A.D. by the King Pulakeshin II of the Chalukya dynasty to celebrate his victory over the Vengi region of Andhra Desham as per the evidence which is written on the temple wall.

This temple is among one of the oldest temples in Indian History that is dedicated to the goddess Durga. The Bhadrakali temple at Hanamkonda is located at the hilltop between the Hanamkonda and Warangal, Telangana, and is surrounded by lush greenery amidst the hilly region. The temple is also known by the name of Grant Mother Goddess which is very popular among the devotees of the Goddess. One of the unique features of the temple is the square-shaped stone image of the goddess. In that image, the goddess is seen in a posture of sitting with a vicious eye and face. The Goddess can also be seen wearing a crown and having eight hands holdings the weapons.
Historically it is said that The Kohinoor diamond is believed to be originally discovered as one of the eyes of the goddess by the Kakatiya kings. The history of the Kohinoor diamond, now part of British Crown Jewels, is more associated with this temple as it was installed, as the left eye of Goddess Bhadrakali by the Kakatiya dynasty.

Well at the top point of this temple, there is an artificial lake of almost 2 and a half kilometers radius in the vicinity of the temple. Some uniquely shaped rocks are said to have some extreme spiritual powers, and the structure of the temple is approximately 250 years old. The lake was built by Ganapathi deva, who was a minister of the Kaktiya Dynasty. The lake is surrounded by hillocks and other religious spaces such as the Padmakshi temples, hanuman temple, etc. The temple and the lake became the most prominent attraction for many pilgrims and tourists throughout the year.
We can see the style of the great Chalukya Dynasty in every bit of the temple, from its architecture to the main deity, which displays the Ekanda Shila or single stone sculpture. We can also observe the strong similarity to the Kakatiya style of architecture in the temple. And be noted, one of the inner pillars of the temple has a Sanskrit inscription on it. That one particular pillar is called the Antralaya stambam.
However, later due to the fall of the Kakatiya dynasty to the Muslim rulers of Delhi, the temple lost its importance. The Kakatiya’s negotiated the truce with Allaudin Khilji by offering the diamond in exchange for not to be infringing. In 1950, the temple was renovated by Sri Ganesh Rao Sastri a Devi upasaka with a Gujrati Business Man Shri Maganlal. B. Sameja. Founder of Shri Bhadrakali Temple.
