Muthyam Dhara Waterfalls – Jayashankar Bhupalpally District – 3rd Highest Waterfalls of India
Muthyam Dhara waterfalls are located near Veerabadaravaram village of Venkatapuram Mandal, Jayashankar Bhupalpally District, Telangana, India.
Muthyam Dhara waterfalls are the country’s third-highest waterfall. The water falls from a height of 700 meters. As the water falls from a such great height, it is blown by strong winds, giving it an appearance of a long snake.
Muthyam Dhara waterfalls have the potential to become one of the most popular tourist destinations. But, the lack of basic facilities at the waterfalls makes it unfavorable for trekking.
Tourists and nature enthusiasts have to reach the waterfalls by taking a 10-kilometer walk through the forest due to the lack of proper roads.
The Bheemunipadam waterfall which is located near Muthyam Dhara waterfalls is famous for its rainbows during sunrise and sunset. Moreover, the 10-kilometer-long cave is a major tourist attraction one can explore. The water falls from a height of around 70 feet, forming a 200-foot-deep pool in a semi-circular enclosure on the ground.
The locals say that it is believed that bathing in the waterfall can be therapeutic since ancient times. As the water mixes with rare medicinal herbs on its journey, it is believed to be therapeutic.
One has to travel through the forest by trekking along streams. The total distance would be around 20 km of walking in the forest. So, make sure you have an ample amount of time and energy to travel through the uneven terrain of the rocky path.
While anyone can visit the waterfall, one should have no expectations regarding the facilities. One should take enough care at the premises of the waterfalls as the trekking and the surroundings near waterfalls would be slippery due to the surfaces and uneven stones
- To reach the Muthyam Dhara waterfalls, one has to travel 6Kms from Bogatha Waterfalls. There you will find a right turn to Venkatapuram Village
- It takes around 20Kms to travel from the highway to Venkatapuram village. From there, you’ve to drive exactly 5Kms to reach the waterfalls.
- Once you reach the small local village, you can ask any local people about the route to reach the waterfalls of Mutyala Jalapatham or Muthyam Dhara or Veerabadhram Waterfalls.
- The simplest route from the highway is to take the road to venkatapuram village, go straight to 25.3Kms and you will find a small signboard of waterfalls on your left.
One can find accommodation facilities at Laknavaram Lake. One has to do advance bookings as there are only 4 Cottages & a Couple of rooms available there.
Tadvai Forest Camp
Tadvai Forest camp is another place where you can find accommodation. You have to do advance booking here as well as only 6 Cottages are available there. Tadvai Huts is 30Kms approximately from Laknawaram Lake.
