After a few years, a farmer named Chinthakunta Odelu found the Shiva Ling when he was tilling his land with his plough. He took the Shiva Ling out and constructed a temple around it.

In the Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy temple, there are separate chambers for sub shrines like Lord Sri Rama and village deities Bangaru Pochamma and Madana Pochamma.
