Telangana is famous for its soulful temples and its history. And one of the great temples is the Manyamkonda Venkateshwara temple situated in Manyamkonda village in Mahbubnagar district of Telangana state.
The Lord Venkateshwara temple is called Swayambhumurthi which means self-manifested. The temple is located in the dense thick forest, surrounded by lush greens is truly an amazing experience.
Manyamkonda or now called Manikonda is the famous hill where the lord’s temple is situated. This place is very calm and peaceful, mesmerizing with the beautiful, and of course a perfect destination for devotees and tourists. It is believed that this ancient temple is more than 500 years old or older than that.
Let me tell you the story behind the name of the temple, In the past, it is said that ancient saints like Narasimha Yogi, Kasirayalu, Ettepu Ramayogi, Veerappaiah, Yanumaddhasu have meditated here and since then this place was called as Munulakonda (Munulu, which means Saints and Konda means hill) and later as years passed it is been called as Mannemkonda or Manyamkonda or now known as Manikonda.

This is one of the best places in Manyamkonda which has so much spiritual and tourist importance in the Mahbubnagar District. This place is located at a distance of 6 Km from Devarkadra Railway Station of the South Central Railway.
As this temple is surrounded by hills, is beautifully scenic, and ancient importance, this place has got lot of attention in recent years as a major tourist attraction of Mahbubnagar District and Telangana state.

The temple of Lord Venkateshwara Swamy is majestically situated in the heart of the forest and on the hilltop. The shrine is located on a hill that is 915 m high and at a distance of 2 Km from the village. And if we talk about the architecture of the temple then it is located in a cave here which is inclined and settled on top of three hills. The Main Deity here is Lord Venkateshwara Swamy and this place is also known as Harihara Kshetra.
People believe that it has been found against the back wall, Lord Venkateshwara Swamy is ‘Self Manifested’ resembling the idol of Tirupathi. And it is also believed by the pilgrims that ancient saints practiced penance in the caves which adds more positive energy to the shrine.
The best time to visit the temple is during the time of ‘Jathara’ which is celebrated every year during the months of January and February. The festival is held on the day of ‘Maha Purnima and is also known as the Palamoor Tirupathi temple.

How to Reach the Temple?
By Road– devotees and tourists could find the temple around 13 Km from Mahbubnagar on the state highway to Raichur. The TSRTC buses are very frequent to Manyamkonda temple.
By Train– After reaching the Mahbubnagar Railway Station, after that, there is Devakadra Railway Station. The temple is just 6 Km from this station.
By Air– The nearest airport is Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad for Mahbubnagar district.
There are a couple of options for accommodation. A guesthouse is available on the top of the hill. And some other option is to stay in Mahbubnagar Town.
