As Goa is located on the West Coast of India along the shore of the Arabian Sea, it is dominated by Portuguese-influenced food. Goa was a Portuguese Colony before 1961 and hence most of the dishes of Goa are full of spices and flavors. One can find many dishes that incorporate coconut, rice, fish, pork, meat, and local spices like kokum. But since Goa is on the seashore, most of the Goa cuisines are dominated by sea foods that include Shark, tuna, pomfret, and mackerel fish. 

1. Goan Fish Curry

Goan fish curry also called Xitti Kodi and rice is the staple diet of Goans. The Goa-style fish curry is prepared with flavourful spices that also include coconut and raw mango to give a tangy flavor to the dish. Fish like pomfret or kingfish are used to make the curry and are served along with rice.

4. Prawns Xeque Xeque

5. Patolea

Patolea is a sweet dish that is consumed along with tea in Goa. This recipe is prepared using Goa red rice, coconut, jaggery, and cardamom stuffed inside tamarind leaves. The leaves are then folded, wrapped, and steamed for about twenty minutes to get a delicious taste.

6. Crab Xacuti

This is another popular seafood dish that is similar to Chicken Xacuti. To prepare this recipe, the claws of the crabs should be carefully removed and then boiled for 15 minutes. The crabs are then marinated with a mixture of various flavourful spices and cooked with eggs to bring out the consistency of the gravy.
