Taking care of our eyes is the most important part. Without eyes, we cannot able to see, so taking care of the eyes is mandatory. You know as per the survey data, there are approximately 2.2 billion approximately who have near or distant vision and also according to the 2021 report by WHO. India is the second most populous country in the world and has 20% of the world’s blind population. Visual impairments are a major concern and health issue across the world.

However, many factors that are responsible for poor vision like the genetic problem, the environment, and also your daily habits are responsible for eyesight problems. Here I am going to tell some 6 daily habits that you should avoid and that are harmful to your eyes.

1. Too much screen time– spending so much time on computers, mobile phones, or on any screens and working for long hours is a major thing and harmful for the eyes. During this pandemic time, people started working from home and working virtually for a long-time daily impact a lot. And it leads to strain on your eyes and started having eye-related problems. To avoid this, spend at least 20 seconds in every 20 minutes looking at something 20 feet away.

2. Eating an eye health-deficient diet– you should eat some healthy foods with are good for your eyes including foods containing, zinc, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins C and vitamin E, dark leafy greens, eggs, nuts, oranges, also some seafood.

3. Lack of sleep– if you are not getting proper sleep regularly could lead the negative effects on your health, like it weakened immune system, increases weight, heart disease, high blood pressure, mood swings, and memory issues. It also affects the eyes like bloodshot eyes, blurred vision, dark circles, dry eyes, and other conditions happened.

4. Rubbing your eyes– do not rub your eyes, many people just start rubbing their eyes while waking up and other times all day but it can also cause eye damage. Rubbing eyes can break blood vessels that are present under your eyelids. When the eyes are irritated, do you’re your eyes with cold water or apply a cold compress instead of rubbing the eyes

5. Not wearing sunglasses– wear sunglasses while traveling during the day because sunlight can also have harmful effects on your eyes. Our eyes are so sensitive to ultraviolet rays which can affect the eye. Wearing sunglasses regularly can prevent the development of cataracts. Additionally, sunglasses also protect against dry-eye syndrome by blocking the wind and dust from reaching your eye.

6. Staying dehydrated– keep hydrated, as our eyes rely on water to help keep them lubricated in the form of tears. It is normal for dust, dirt, and other things present in the air to sneak into our eyes. But without moisture, one may develop dry, red, or puffy eyes. So do maintain the water quantity in your body in a specific ratio for healthy eyes
