The district Karimnagar is situated on the banks of the Manair river, which is a tributary of the river Godavari. Karimnagar is the 4th largest city in the south Indian state of Telangana. 1. Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy Temple

Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy Temple– the temple is located at a distance of 2 km from Kondagattu Bus Stand and located in Kondagattu village of Karimnagar district is one of the famous temples in Telangana. The temple is surrounded by a hillock amongst beautiful hills and refreshing water springs and is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. The Temple is adorned with sculptures of Gods and Goddesses on its walls.

There are many stories behind this temple, about 300 years ago a farmer Singam sanjeevudu after losing one of his buffalos, came to this hill place while searching and slept. Lord Anjaneya came into his dream and told him about the whereabouts of his buffalo. As he woke up and looking around the hillock, he found a radiance idol of Anjaneya. Since then, he built a small temple for the lord at the present location. The present architecture and structure were built by Krishna Rao Deshmukh in the middle of 20th century.

Even the devotees believe that people who are infertile will be blessed by offering 40 days of prayers to the lord Anjaneya Swamy and Hanuman Jayanti is the main festival celebrated there.

2. Elgandal Fort

Elgandal Fort– Elgandal fort is situated at a distance of 1 km from Elgandal and 16 km from Karimnagar Bus Station, Elgandal Fort is situated on the bank of the Maner River at Elgandal, in Karimnagar district of Telangana. This is one of the most important historical sites to visit around Karimnagar and Hyderabad. The fort would have witnessed the Kakatiya dynasty, Bahmanis, Qutub Shahis, Mughals, and Asaf Jahis dynasty. In ancient times, Elgandal is also called Bahudhanyapuram, Tellakandula, and Veligandula. And over time, the name changed to Elgandal.

3. Ramagundam Dam

Ramagundam Dam- The Ramagundam dam is located in Karimnagar district, Andhra Pradesh. The capacity of the Ramagundam Dam is approximately 2600 MW. The sources of coal are the South Godavari Coal Fields of Singrani Collieries and the Korba Coal Fields of SECL. The water sources of this dam are the Sri Ram Sagar Dam on the Godavari River and Canal from Pochampadu Reservoir.

4. Jagityala Fort

Jagityala Fort- At a distance of 2.7 km from Jagityal Bus Station, Jagityal Fort or Quilla Gadda Fort is situated at Jagityal town in Karimnagar District of Telangana. The Jagityal fort was built during the reign of Nawab Ibrahim, Mughal dynasty. The Mughal rulers used the fort as a defense fort in the 17th century.

The fort has great architecture and was built with stones and lime and it had a water body around that was filled with water. The fort has also two wooden gates, which were lifted by using pulleys. It is surrounded by four water bodies. One of the major prominent monuments in the fort is the Jama Masjid which was established in the 18th century. Furthermore, In the middle of the town, there is the four-faced clock tower.
