Traveling with a baby for the first time would be intimidating for the parents. But Traveling can be made enjoyable and easy if there is some planning and preparation. Your baby will also have a whole new experience of getting out of the house and traveling with people. If you are planning a vacation to travel with your baby soon then there are certain things that you should keep in mind. In this article, we are going to give you some of the important tips to make your first-time travel experience with your baby easier.

1. Verify if your baby is old enough to travel
The first 40 days after childbirth should be avoided for any kind of travel. This confinement period may also extend to a few weeks to safeguard your baby from infections and also you need some rest to recover from the delivery.
If there is an urgent need to travel, then you may plan a journey by train, bus, or car. Air travel is not a feasible option at this time because of airport restrictions and policies. A baby is not allowed to travel if he is at least one month old.
The safest period to travel is when the baby is about three months old. By the time the baby’s immune system would have developed to some extent. Once the baby is 6 months old then it is absolutely safe to travel and even the kids enjoy traveling. Have you noticed the motions of the automobile can often make the child sleepy?
2. Travel with as much comfort as possible
Always plan a journey that is safe and simple. Journeys on hilly roads, serpentine trails, or Jungle resorts are not recommended while traveling with a baby. Prolonged travel may make them uncomfortable So plan to reach the venue in the shortest amount of time.
3. Choosing between a direct flight and one with a stopover
It is very important to limit the number of connecting flights for the baby’s comfort. During the landing air pressure will act on the baby’s ear causing pain and crying in the aircraft. If you have to arrange a connecting flight then allow sufficient time on the ground between the flights. Moreover, you will get enough time for changing a dirty diaper and you do not have to rush to the airport while carrying a baby.
4. Fly during nap
It is better to schedule flights during nap time to allow your baby to sleep. Flying around naptime has a higher chance of a pleasant journey experience for the babies. If you cannot arrange a flight during their nap time then at least arrange in the times of the day when they are calm like in the mornings.
5. Carry all the baby necessities
Bring all the necessary supplies like diapers, bottles, food, and snacks that are all needed on the aircraft. Always carry a little extra because it will be more helpful if there is any flight delay or cancellation.
6. Protect your baby’s ears
Sucking or chewing something relieves ear discomfort caused by the fluctuations in the flight. Always carry a bottle of milk and you may offer your baby a bottle throughout takeoff and landing. Breast milk and infant formula are exceptions from the liquid restrictions. So you can bring a sealed liquid formula to purchase a water bottle at the airport to prepare powdered formula for the newborns. Chewing a cookie or a cracker can be beneficial for older babies and toddlers.
7. Carry transparent bags
Carry enough transparent bags so that all the bottles, burp clothes, diapers, and all other baby necessities can be put in bags of varying sizes. So during your journey even if anything like a passport, documentation, or food comes in contact with the baby’s essentials, they would remain safe.
8. Carry enough toys
Try to carry at least a few baby toys like music toys, soft animals, pop-up toys, etc to keep the child engaged from crying.
9. Choose hotels with kid-friendly amenities
When you have an option to choose a hotel then search for one which has kids-friendly features like a pool, playground, and kids club. If a hotel room you are staying in contains any harmful substances that can injure your child like corner plugs and other risks, then it is a better idea to childproof a hotel room. It only takes a few minutes to do so.
10. Pack comfy clothing item
Always pack practical baby clothing items that are easy to wash and fold. You can also try out rolling clothes instead of folding them. Many people believe that rolling clothes may take up less space in baggage and remains wrinkle-free than folded clothes.
