Irrfan Khan passes away at 54, battling colon infection.
Actor Irrfan breathed his last at the age of 54 in Mumbai on Wednesday, a tweet from filkmmaker Shoojit Sircar said. On Tuesday, news broke that Bollywood actor Irrfan was admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai due to a colon infection.
The news of his death was shared on Twitter by filmmaker Shoojit Sircar. “My dear friend Irfaan. You fought and fought and fought. I will always be proud of you.. we shall meet again.. condolences to Sutapa and Babil.. you too fought, Sutapa you gave everything possible in this fight. Peace and Om shanti. Irfaan Khan salute,” he wrote.
Irrfan Khan was diagnosed with an neuroendocrine tumour in March 2018, soon after which he flew to London for treatment. He returned to India in February 2019 to shoot Angrezi Medium and flew back to London after a brief stay. The actor lost his mother, Saeeda Begum, on Saturday. Irrfan was not able to attend her mother’s funeral due to the coronavirus lockdown. Irrfan’s mother was 95.
