In-Talk : COVID-19 Virus Might Last For Two Years!

If you feel that the Corona crisis will end anytime soon, think again. Experts say that the battle against Corona is going to be a long one. Epidemiologists say that it could take at least a minimum of 18 months and a maximum of 2 years to control the virus completely. Adding more fears about the COVID-19 pandemic, a research report of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota stated that the novel coronavirus will last for two years and we cannot control the pandemic unless 60-70 percent of the world population develops immunity system to fight the virus.

The research stated that the virus turns even more fatal as the virus can spread from one person to another and the infected people will not notice this until he/she falls ill severely.

“This will take time, since limited serosurveillance data available to date suggest that a relatively small fraction of the population has been infected and infection rates likely vary substantially by geographic area,” the research stated.

“As the pandemic wanes, it is likely that COVID-19 will continue to circulate in the human population and will synchronize to a seasonal pattern with diminished severity over time, as with other less pathogenic coronaviruses,” it added.

Vaccine is the key but as of now still we are in the initial stages of getting one. Oxford university is ahead in the race but university official says human trails will be done by september.

The researchers went on to say that many nations that imposed lockdown based on the spread of the virus now eased the instructions for people to come out and the business to start their operations and added that there is the chance of the virus to get spread beyond 2022 too.

By this stretch, an estimated 70 to 80 per cent of the world population will be infected by Corona virus. The death toll too is likely to hit the roof. And the worst part of it is that US, the global super power, is going to be among the hardest hit nations. According to a study by the Centre for Infectious Diseases and Policy of the Minnesota University, with the temperatures falling steeply in the coming days, the virus is all set to affect more areas and kill more people. The department, which aids the US government in tackling pandemics, has put out bleak projections for the coming days.

The study also suggests that the only way to tackle the virus is by improving the disease resistance. It is important to ensure that the resistance grows for at least up to the coming two years to fight off Covid, the report said. The reports say that the situation in most European countries is going to be the same. The UK too could witness lakhs of deaths due to Covid 19, the report added. Indeed, not a sunny projection at all!!
